Collectable Buyout of Mahomes Shows He Still Has Strength

The fractional ownership platform Collectable has some good news for a rare Patrick Mahomes card, but it’s probably good news for Mahomes collectors in general. If Super Bowls help quarterback values, there was at least some concern in the letdown performance last Sunday.

A large premium is being paid for one of the scarce serial numbered (5/5) 2017 Panini Flawless Patrick Mahomes II cards. The card is graded BGS 9. Image below provided by Collectable.

Collectable’s holders are accepting a buyout. The email release said:

Patrick Mahomes’ latest playoff loss isn’t stopping his collectibles market from continuing to soar. The leading sports memorabilia investment platform, Collectable received a $115,000 buyout offer that was accepted by shareholders on the Patrick Mahomes 2017 Panini Flawless Emerald Rookie Patch Auto BGS 9. You can find images of the card to use for your coverage here. The asset was offered on Collectable in December 2020 for $79,500 ($20/share).

As for how much of a majority accepted the buyout, let’s just say that there was almost one-third of holders who wanted to hold out for more (or did not respond). The communication said:

70% of shareholders voted to accept the buyout offer which Collectable returns approximately $27.85 net price per share. This represents a 39.25% return over the IPO price and a 39.25% net premium over last traded price on Collectable’s secondary market.

Not bad. Not bad at all.
