Even Cruise Lines Want in on NFTs!

Many people still are not comfortable nor familiar with non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the Metaverse. That isn’t stopping companies and individuals from getting in on every possible angle of NFTs and the Metaverse. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: NCLH) has now announced plans to “sail into the Metaverse” with the cruise industry’s first collection of NFTs. The company is set to auction and sell 6 NFTs and all proceeds will be donated to the Teach For America organization.

It may seem amazing that even cruise liners wasn’t in on NFTs. Well, if the effort cannot count on your charity, perhaps it can count on a your desire to take a cruise.

Each of the NFTs will feature art by Manuel Di Rita, the Italian artist known as “Peeta” who designed the ship hull art for Norwegian’s Prima and Viva hulls. The collection of NFTs that will open for auction and sale on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Each NFT is to celebrate Norwegian’s launch of its Prima Class on its soon-to-launch online NFT marketplace.

According to the press release, the first of the 6 art pieces will be auctioned at the starting rate of $2,500.00 (U.S. dollars). The remaining NFTs will be sold for prices beginning at $250.00.

As for that desire to take a cruise, the winner of the auction will also be awarded a balcony stateroom on one of Norwegian Prima’s U.S. inaugural voyages that will sail from the new PortMiami terminal located in Miami, Florida. With all NFT proceeds being donated to Teach For America, this is part of NCL’s annual NCL Giving Joy campaign to celebrate the intersection of travel and education and will help the organization recruit and develop more teachers for students in Miami-Dade.

Even cruise lines now have a way of promoting NFTs and the Metaverse.
