Fine Whisky & Spirits Crushing Auction Expectations

The Finest and rarest spirits were auctioned at Sotheby’s and smashed estimates. Great news for collectors of the extremely rare or uncommon varieties of spirit. Names like Karuizawa, Yamazaki, and Macallan that have been bottles of desire to high-end collectors of finer spirits and whisky. This auction fetched into the millions of dollars and early estimates were a major indication.

Collectors Dashboard evaluates high-end collectibles as an alternative asset class because collectibles are now routinely attracting the same capital that could have been invested into stocks or bonds. Many wines and whiskies now cost thousands of dollars, and it is becoming routine to see lots sell for tens of thousands of dollars — and some much more! Collectors may have a passion to own a collectible of this sort for consumption or for bragging rights, but any investor looking this way is only seeking to make a potential profit in the future.

Something for every caliber of collector was available in the 138 lots. Here are the results of key sales available through Sotheby’s.
