Many whiskey drinkers might think of Kentucky as the first state for U.S. whiskies. The state of Wyoming may be the first new whiskey release announcement of 2022. Collectors Dashboard has not seen many new release announcements in the United States so far in 2022, and whether this is or is not the first release of the year will not matter as much as that one of the first whiskey releases is coming from such an obscure location.

Pine Bluffs Distilling is located in Pine Bluff, Wyoming. Farm to Flask is an expression used on their website showing pictures of how they locally harvest the ingredients they use. January 7, 2022 they released their Straight Rye Malt Whiskey and the locals lined up for it. A story about January and Wyoming is probably all about snow, so maybe the local residents just needed an excuse to warm themselves up.

The town of Pine Bluffs Wyoming’s local Pine Bluffs Post newspaper announced the first whiskey to be produced on January 7, 2022. Collectors Dashboard might be better known for covering collectibles and wine or whisky that would be considered high-end or as an investment, but being the first new U.S. whiskey of the year has to be worth at least something.

According to the local town paper Friday January 7, 2022 Pine Bluffs Distilling released their 100% Straight Rye Malt Whiskey. Customers waited in line as early as 6 am for a chance to take home one of the first 50 bottles.

To collectors, only 50 bottles available on the release is a limited edition understanding. Without physically visiting the distillery in Wyoming batches found are what is available in retail will be the most attainable. The distillery has a tasting room as well. It’s probably not as uncommon to find such a hometown local whiskey distillery as it used to be, but this is still not the most common event you can find in spirits. The whiskey is locally sourced and made by Americans who live in a cold environment and know how to keep warm with good whiskey.
