Michael Jordan’s “Final Floor Auto” Card Blows His Rookie Card Away!

When it comes to Michael Jordan card, the most commonly sought after Michael Jordan card is the prized 1986-87 Fleer rookie card of Michael Jordan. It doesn’t even matter that it’s not exactly a true rookie card. It’s “The Bomb” for the fine line between modern and vintage basketball card collectors.

There are other more recent Michael Jordan cards that are sought after by more selective collectors who favor scarcity in Precious Metal Gems or more recent panel signature multi-player cards. But what about the 1999 Upper Deck Final Floor Autograph signed relic? This is a #1 of 1, so it is unique and frankly it is the first time that Collectors Dashboard has even seen the card.

Goldin Auctions has this unique item up for auction with 11 days left for bidding. The 1999 Upper Deck Final Floor Autograph #FF11 Michael Jordan Signed Relic Card (#1/1) is graded as a PSA EX-MT 6 grade for the card and the autograph itself has the prized PSA/DNA 10 designation. Its bid is $130,000 after 14 bids and with 11 days remaining.

Collectors and investors should look closely over the sales and populations of the Upper Deck 1999 MJ’s Final Floor series compiled by PSA. There are many variations out there, but 1/1 autographed floor example appears to be the most prized example of the others represented by PSA data.

Before getting into the 1/1 uniqueness, let’s compare this to the population of PSA cards alone of Michael Jordan’s prized rookie 1986-87 Fleer card. PSA population report data shows that there are 23,492 graded examples from PSA alone — but only 318 examples have the perfect PSA 10 designation and another 2,857 are graded with a Mint PSA 9 grade. That population keeps rising over time as more cards are submitted for grading (less than 22,000 last July).

Here is what Goldin has to say about this “Final Floor” card:

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA, with signature graded “10” by PSA/DNA. Hall of Famer. Michael Jordan played his final game for the Chicago Bulls in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals, scoring 45 points and clinching his sixth NBA Finals victory as his jump shot with 5.2 seconds left sealed Chicago’s 87-86 road win over the Utah Jazz. Jordan was named Finals Most Valuable Player for the sixth time in his career after averaging an exceptional 33.5 points per game. The former University of North Carolina star retired for a second time after the 1997-98 NBA season before returning to the NBA for a two-season spell with the Washington Wizards. The cardfront presentation of this iconic Upper Deck Final Floor Autograph collectible incorporates an authentic game floor relic from Utah’s home court, the site of MJ’s legendary “Final Shot.” Jordan has signed the cardfront in crisp blue ink. A statement on the card affirms the manufacturer’s guarantee of authenticity for the piece’s content and serves as the item’s COA. The limited-edition piece is serial-numbered “1/1.”
