Picasso, Warhol, Haring Prints/Multiples Crushing Auction Estimates

The 2022 April 19 Prints & Multiples Signature Auction was above estimates for the pieces we profiled. That means a collector could have had an original Picasso for $100,000.00… which was $20,000.00 above its estimate. The high sale of the auction was also a Picasso, with the second highest price for a lot going to Basquiat. So far, the year 2022 has been exciting and very successful for sales prices.

Collectors Dashboard evaluates high-end collectibles as an alternative asset class. This means original works by Pablo Picasso are attracting the same capital that could have been invested into stocks or bonds. Original art now costs thousands of dollars to millions of dollars per piece. Collectors with a passion to own certain prints or paintings by established artists frequently have to compete directly against investors whose only desire is to make a profit in the future.

The “prints and multiples” offer fine art collectors a chance to own some of the greatest modern art pieces from the top artists at prices that are not well into the millions of dollars. Just pay attention to the estimates because many of these have already been blown out of the water.

Here were some of the rare opportunities that blew past estimates we saw in this Heritage auction. All images are from Heritage Auctions.
