Sotheby’s Live April Wine Auction Blows Through Estimates

With the conclusion of a live auction on April 8. Collectors sent prices well past estimates for Sotheby’s Fine & Rare Wines auction. The auction featured bottles that originated in iconic regions like Burgundy, Bordeaux and Napa.

Collectors Dashboard evaluates high-end collectibles as an alternative asset class. This means certain bottles of wine are attracting the same capital that could have been invested into stocks or bonds. Many collectibles now cost thousands of dollars (or much more). Collectors with a passion to own certain vintages of vino for years frequently have to compete directly against investors whose only desire is to make a profit in the future.

We have tracked the first 25 lots with original estimates and sale prices provided by Sotheby’s.
