Steph Curry Led Auction Numbers Heading Into Christmas

Christmas 2021 is a year that card collectors will have seen a lot of volume in gifts. So what if some of those gifts are from Santa to Santa. One such auction that stood out was on the heels of Steph Curry’s strong card sales already happening as he broke the record for 3-pointers. An example of one of Steph Curry’s rookie cards led the way in the December 18th Heritage Auctions Sports Auction. Inflation may mean higher prices for most consumer goods, but at least the collectibles sector managed to escape holiday supply chain issues.

Graded cards have been incredibly popular over the years in the hobby. Parents can give great gifts of players or non-sports cards to their kids. Spouses can give cards to their loved ones. And friends can gift cards to each other. No worries about whether the cards are stuck on a dock or stuck on a ship outside of the port!

Collectors Dashboard evaluates high-end collectibles as an alternative asset class. This means collectibles are attracting the same capital that could have been invested into stocks or bonds. Many collectibles now cost thousands of dollars (or much more). Heritage is no stranger to this concept as they have also referred to items in the same terms that would be geared toward the investing community.

Collectors Dashboard is featuring multiple sports and hobby auctions heading into the 2021 holiday season. One of Steph Curry’s Rookie Cards maintained the lead until the final gavel fell on December 18. Curry beat out several high-grade Michael Jordan Rookie cards. 2009 Topps Chrome Stephen Curry Rookie #101 PSA Gem Mint 10. Estimated at $40,000+ and sold for $55,200.00 after 34 bids.
