Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Rookie Card Joins the $500,000 Club!

The April Premier Auction from PWCC Marketplace had some very interesting surprises to it. The 324 lots generated more than $18.6 million in sales. Our biggest surprise was to see a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rookie card sell for in excess of $500,000.00 for a single card.

According to PWCC Marketplace, this new “highest price ever” for a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. card was for a 2016 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rookie card for $552,000.00. This particular rookie card is signed and numbered to just 5, and the card is graded as 10 Pristine from BGS.

PWCC Also noted that the previous record for a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rookie was set in August 2021 for the sum of $186,960.00.00. Image below by PWCC Marketplace.

Jesse Craig, Director of Business Development at PWCC Marketplace, said of the sale:

There is a ton for collectors to love about Vlad Jr. and his game. He’s just 23 years old and he already has three solid seasons to his name. The 2021 campaign really set the stage for this jump in price. A .311 batting average, .401 OBP, and 1.002 OPS got him second in the MVP voting behind only Shohei Ohtani. The start to this season helps solidify the fact that 2021 was no fluke. The consensus among card collectors is that Vlad Jr. is the real deal.

As of the current time, the 23-year-old Guerrero has already belted 5 home runs in 10 games. It doesn’t take too much of an imagination to multiple that number by 16 to see what a full season’s homer count could be if this blistering pace were to be magically sustained.

PWCC Marketplace’s Premier Auction of the 324 lots were in baseball, basketball, football, hockey, golf, soccer, Pokémon, and more. The total auction proceeds were $18,614,400.
