Justin Herbert Joins the Club of $1 Million Rookie Cards

Justin Herbert is still just 24 years of age and he has only been quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers for two seasons. An auction via Goldin.co now has a rookie-autographed card joining that special $1 million price club. The rookie Justin Herbert card is graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by BGS, and the signature was graded “10” by Beckett. It is actually the 2020 National Treasures Justin Herbert Rookie Card Autograph Shield “1/1” and the signature is in a vibrant blue ink.

The last bid of $1,050,000.00 is really a bid of $1.26 million after the buyer’s premium, and there is still more than 5 days still remaining. Image below by Goldin.

According to the description:

The cardfront presentation is highlighted by a stunning multicolored authentic memorabilia patch bearing the NFL Shield logo. This is the type of card that most high-end collectors chase privately, while primarily these true investment grail pieces very rarely see an open public auction setting. Some would say this levels the playing field to afford the opportunity to other high end collectors the ability to secure this elusive piece. The 2017 National Treasures Patrick Mahomes II Autographed NFL Shield Rookie Card (BGS NM-MT+ 8.5/Beckett 10) record sale of more than $4 million last year set a price that shows us what potential is possible for how the “True” National Treasures RC NFL Shield Autograph “1/1” cards are capable of rising in value and demand.

After just two NFL seasons, Herbert is already recognized as one of the NFL’s most prolific passers and a leading candidate for the 2022 NFL MVP Award. In his first season, Herbert set league records for most touchdown passes and most 300-yard games by a rookie quarterback. His prodigious arm strength and excellent vision have made the Eugene, Ore.-born signal-caller one of the brightest young stars in the NFL. The card’s BGS condition report: Centering: 9, Corners: 8.5, Edges: 8, Surface: 9.5. A statement on the card affirms the manufacturer’s guarantee of authenticity for the piece’s content and serves as the item’s COA. The limited-edition piece is serial-numbered “1/1.”

Another Justin Herbert card in the auction is a 2020 Panini National Treasures Rookie Patch Autograph (RPA) #158 Justin Herbert Signed Patch Rookie Card (#73/99) graded PSA NM-MT 8 with a $51,000 bid after 40 bids.
