The First 2022 Top Trophy Coin Auction to Watch (Including Victoria Gold Proof “Una and the Lion”)

With 2021 winding down, it’s time to evaluate some of the items that have sold and also to look forward in 2022 to see what trophy coins are already scheduled for auction next year. This is about the first key coin auction of 2022. There are many trophy coins that are going to be up for grabs.

The Heritage Auctions Platinum Night Sale is the first major opportunity of 2022 for investors to pursue Trophy Coins. The January 10, 2022 NYINC World Coins Platinum Night Auction New York is a night filled with Trophy Coins that we will highlight. These are coins that attract collectors whose desire is to own the finest example coin that is known.

When the highest graded examples bring in record prices, it tends to raise the value of all the coins of the same type below it. The competition of owning the rarest example has opened the door to new collectors coming into numismatics. In this auction are very small populations of several coins that we will feature and track the realized prices of.

Collectors Dashboard evaluates high-end collectibles as an alternative asset class. This means collectibles are attracting the same capital that could have been invested into stocks or bonds. Many collectibles now cost thousands of dollars (or much more). Collectors with a passion to own a trophy coin for years frequently have to compete directly against investors whose only desire is to make a profit in the future.
