The sports card hobby goes through ups and downs and it goes through fads. Whether Panini’s Kaboom cards stay popular over the years ahead remains to be seen. Right now they are very popular with sports card buyers who want scarcity over massive populations. Pulling a Kaboom card isn’t easy and the supply of these cards is not countless as is typical in many base cards.

Collectors Dashboard has tracked the prices of the Kaboom cards, and we have noted that Kaboom cards were reaching prices in late 2021 that they were becoming unreachable for most card collectors. That may be true for superstar players but many Kaboom cards sell for $200 or less. That’s not exactly in the cheap or affordable on many budgets, but it certainly doesn’t qualify as unattainable.

Collectors Dashboard has been tracking Kaboom sales on eBay and at auction houses in January 2022. These do not represent price charts, and there is absolutely no way to know about prices and demand tomorrow. The reality is that there is still a massive interest in Kaboom cards. Showing up at any sports card show will prove that point.

These were auction prices off of eBay that were solely from January 26, 2022.

We have not altered the card descriptions at all to best represent what the sellers are representing and what the buyers are buying, The sale price is supposed to be from the action formats only and the number of bids is shown to represent the interest at the time. There are some items with one bid only and that may of course be up for debate – or it could mean there was also a fixed price option inside an auction. We have tried to remove any of the “promotional” cards that are obviously unlicensed, but it seems inevitable that late-night buyers and unsuspecting buyers will fall into the trap of not knowing what they are buying. We have also removed the listings which are fixed price “or Best Offer listings if that was the only option.

Some of the star names and high-priced players were Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, CeeDee Lamb, Trey Lance, Patrick Mahomes and others. The number of Kaboom cards selling was higher on January 25, 2022, but much of that is simply due to when sellers had their auctions ending.
