$5.9 Million for Unique Steph Curry National Treasures Rookie Logoman

The prices of sports cards reached a zenith in early 2021, but much of the sports card market saw its prices come crashing down as the economy began to reopen. Perhaps even larger of an impact was card collectors and investors alike figured out that they were overpaying and overemphasizing daily and weekly performance of the top athletes by buying and selling cards like they were day trading stocks.

Just do not think for a moment that a crashing environment for card prices would last forever nor that the trend would be universal. An extremely rare example of a Steph Curry autographed card sold with a valuation of $5.9 million.

The Alt platform has launched with some deep pockets behind the company and it has added 51% ownership of the 2009-10 Steph Curry National Treasures Rookie Logoman. The card is truly unique with a 1/1 population and the purchase price valued the card at this reported $5.9 million all-in valuation.

Collectors Dashboard evaluates collectibles as an alternative class, and with scarcity in the mix there are some unique basketball cards that are smashing records. It is undeniable that many collectors and investors have been competing for the exact same asset, with collectors having a deep passion to own these items being pitted directly against investors who believe these cards will be worth much more ahead.

The Alt platform knows that there are no guaranteed profits in sports collectibles. If there is no guaranteed profit investing in stocks and bonds and real estate, then there are no guarantees in sports memorabilia and sports cards. Still, Alt took a stand showing that they believe this unique rookie card still has upside.

This reported acquisition will also go above the then-record $5.2 million paid for a LeBron James 2003-04 Rookie Patch Autograph card. The tweet from @OnlyAltOfficial said:

Introducing the rarest @StephenCurry30 card in the world, just acquired by Alt for $5.9M. The 2009 National Treasures 1/1 Rookie Logoman Autograph.

Card collectors need to understand that this reported sale is absolutely a case where investors are playing against collectors. It is not just collectors that are driving these record prices.
