The Most Impressive Tom Brady Cards & Items Sold in 2022

Tom Brady’s retirement from the NFL was a serious game-changer for football and the hobby of sports cards and sports collectibles. And now we know that, barring any unforeseen injuries or other adverse events, Tom Brady reversed his retirement decision in only about 6 weeks. It’s hard to go from being the GOAT quarterback to being retired, and it’s also hard to imagine that Brady’s side businesses and daytime television would be as exciting as being an NFL quarterback.

Collectors Dashboard has decided to pull the most impressive Tom brady cards and memorabilia items that have sold so far in 2022. The list is not means to only include his most expensive items because frankly these are affordable for probably 1% of collectors. Because the list is subjective it also means that items sold at conventions, privately brokered items and even some auction house items will simply have been missed.

This is a living list and we strongly encourage the trading community to send us updated items to the email address of “editor at collectorsdashboard dot com” when you see items. Another way to connect is via @CollectorsDash1 on Twitter or even “collectorsdashboard” on Instagram.

The first item worth noting was Tom Brady’s famous “last touchdown pass ever” that sold for some $518,000 or so. This was a Lelands auction and it was a higher sale than Brady’s first touchdown pass ball. This tweet from @TomBrady killed the value of the ball:

These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG

Tom Brady’s career consisted of 22 seasons in the NFL and he ended with a 64.2 completion percentage and he only overtook Drew Brees in total career passing yards in the 2021 season. His record 624 touchdowns is hard to fathom almost as much as his 7 Super Bowl victories and countless awards.

The most impressive sale so far in 2022 was sold on February 1, 2022 and it was the prized 2000 Contenders Rookie Championship Ticket Tom Brady RC AUTO /100 BGS 8.5 w/ 10 AUTO grade. The seller was “probstein” and the notes said that it was the highest graded 8.5 out there, all with a final sales price of $2,300,000.00. There is just one problem and that is that this eBay transaction was a “Buy It Now” and it did not come with an “or Best Offer” feature so it is impossible to know if that sale was finalized or not. The same exact seller also currently has a “2000 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket #144 Tom Brady RC AUTO PSA 10 GEM MINT” card listed as a perfectly stricken auto with no streaks and it has a mere $5 million price tag — and two more similar cards with slightly lower grades for $2,000,000.00 and $1,100,000.00 for each.

Another more than impressive card sale was a 2000 Bowman Chrome Refractor #236 Tom Brady RC Rookie BGS 9 MINT w/ (2) 9.5’s by the same seller “probstein123” on eBay. This sale was for $104,499.00 and it was an actual sale because it was an auction format card that took in 73 bids in total and it ended on Feb. 16, 2022. A BGS 9 Mint (with three of four sub-grades at 9.5) sold for $92,100.00 after 54 bids on eBay. The seller was listed as “jakha_3796” with 3,968 feedback listings and that auction ended on March 5, 2022. That second sale comes with a caveat though — the same listing from the same eBay seller sold for $84,600.00 after 221 bids on Feb. 26, 2022.

A “pre-retirement sale of a 2000 SP Authentic Tom Brady Rookie #118 (limited to /1250) graded as PSA 10 Gem Mint sold for $95,613.00 in an eBay auction. This was by seller “gold_card_auctions” with 1,068 feedback items on eBay on Jan. 20, 2022.

The PWCC March (2022) Premiere Auction includes at 2000 E-X Essential Credentials Future Tom Brady ROOKIE /25 #122 PSA 9 MINT ends on March 19, 2022. While this auction is still current at a $120,000.00 price tag. The auction house even noted that it expects this card in particular to be among the most pursued in the (March) Premier Auction. PWCC’s description says:

Widely considered a Holy Grail Brady rookie card, this hardly-ever-seen parallel is known to exist by collectors, however, few have ever seen it. Only 25 of these Future parallels were manufactured and of that extremely limited amount, several are missing their reverse serial number—making this properly serial stamped example even more desirable. Inspired by basketball’s 1997-98 Skybox E-X2001 set, this set features flamboyant, futuristic base cards with two different Essential Credentials options that parallel the base set. We were sent a PSA certification number of 63716517.

PWCC also had two other impressive Premiere Auction sales from Feb. 2022. The two included in the PWCC included a 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket Tom Brady Rookie Auto that sold for $2,040,000.00, followed by a card that is nowhere close a rookie card — a 2016 Panini Prizm Black Finite Prizms Tom Brady 1/1 for $240,000.00. A signed debut rookie ticket autographed by Tom Brady and inscribed as “the beginning” was by no means his highest selling item compared to cards, but a Ticketmaster version of the game where Tom Brady replaced Drew Bledsoe as quarterback for the New England Patriot was an impressive lot. This ticket recently sold for $44,400.00 at Goldin.co. While a ticket from Ticketmaster is not very attractive, what made this ticket so attractive was that it has Tom Brady’s signature — and it also has “THE BEGINNING” inscription.

Goldin Auctions had its Tom Brady collection broken into three days. The auction house has cards and graded ticket stubs spread across three days but offers a convenient featured link titled Tom Brady Collection which organizes all the Tom Brady items all together from the ongoing Winter Elite Auction. Here are closing times and descriptions worth knowing:

2000 Playoff Contenders “Championship Ticket” #144 Tom Brady Signed Rookie Card (#056/100) graded as BGS NM-MT 8/BGS 10 with a current bid of $975,000.00 after 36 bids was there at Goldin and it had three days remaining at the time. We have not verified the final sales price as of yet.

The fractional ownership platform Collectable was offering shares for a ticket stub from Tom Brady’s debut game on November 23, 2000. The market cap at $10.00 per share was stated as $107,750 and the owner of the ticket will retain a $10,000 equity stake in the asset.

An eBay listing that sold on February 28, 2022 was listed as a “2020-21 Immaculate Collection PATRICK MAHOMES/TOM BRADY /5 Dual Auto Redemption!” This lot commanded a price tag of $40,000.00 after 51 bids and the eBay seller was listed as “jasonbmc2390” with 52 feedback items.

Another impressive sale on eBay was from February 12, 2022. This was a “2000 Fleer Showcase #136 TOM BRADY RC 12/2000 1/1” with a BGS 8 grade. It fetched $39,100.00 after 87 bids. The seller “augusta185” had 229 feedback items at the time.

Again, if there are other key sales of unique items and other high-dollar cards sales please feel free to send an email about them our way.
