Who Knew Meat Loaf Had Trading Cards (And Signed Albums!)

Rock & Roll has lost another iconic singer, actor and entertainer after hearing the news that Meat Loaf has died at the age of 74. Very few people knew the name Marvin Lee Aday, but Meat Loaf’s 1977 Bat Out of Hell debut album sold what is being reported as 40 million to 50 million albums. That’s grounds for being famous, as well as starring in musicals and being in multiple movies.

One way that fans can offer a tribute to their legends is via collectibles. Collectors Dashboard wanted to look out there to see what is available. It turns out Meat Loaf had some trading cards featuring him. There are also many signed photos. Perhaps the most iconic collectible any true fan of his would want to display is a signed Meat Loaf album cover of the Bat Out of Hell album that made him so famous (see below).

MEAT LOAF TRADING CARDS

A 2005 Donruss Fans of the Game series features Meat Loaf as a fan of the New York Yankees, and their stat when that card was produced was that Bat Out of Hell had sold 35 million copies at that time. The back of the card offers the reason for why he appreciates America’s pastime:

“The fact that things happen in baseball that couldn’t happen!”

A search on eBay showed two versions of that card. One was signed and one was not. The signed card had a starting bid of $175.00 and there was an unsigned card for $5.00.

Another card of Meat Loaf was from the 1997 KISS Trading Card set (KISSTORY), featuring the entire KISS band with Meat Loaf in a 1979 photo. The card was listed as “great condition” and the 1997 copyright of the card refers to him as “popular recording artist, Meatloaf.

Another eBay listing under Meat Loaf tracing cards was a sketch art (black and white drawing) trading card by David Golding signed on the back from 2016. Its starting bid was $12.29 and would be shipping from the United Kingdom.

Another card was issued by Leaf in 2018 featuring Meat Loaf’s signature in a silver Pop Century card set which also shows a smaller photo of him singing on the back of the card. Leaf also has a different signed auto card of Meat Loaf in a 2018 Pop Century Vinyl Signs set.

And lastly in cards, there was the 1980 trading card set from the Vanderhout Pop Festival from 1980 featuring Meat Loaf as card #90.

SIGNED ALBUM & PHOTOS

Perhaps the most pointed collectible for Meat loaf anyone could guess. The Bat Out of Hell album, signed in blue ink by Meat Loaf on the cover. This particular album had a signature date of 3/10/19, but that was in black ink. This particular album was sold for $300 on the charitystars.com site on August 28th 2020 for $300.00. A search on eBay showed other signed albums and CDs as well as signed photos (including from the famous Rocky Horror Picture Show).
